Well according to my Dr's surgery I am not a carer as I don't claim carers allowance so can't have a free flu jab :rotfl:

I am not sure if we going to claim it is not a huge amount but not sure if it will help with anything else.

I know that we can't get any means tested benefits as we have savings.

Carers credit is like home responsibility credit for carers that cant claim carers allowance, its NI contributions for pensions only but I posted it because it may be of use for someone.

Have you asked for a social services carers assessment?

Then you can prove that you`re a carer if it ever comes up, like for the flu jab and it may help you in someway to have the assessment.

No I haven't asked for a carers assessment.

My husband does need more help than than adult of the same age such as having someone around while he showers in case he falls. He is not allowed to used the cooker at all if I am not in the house. Not that he is able to light it. He is not safe with a knife so no chopping things for him.

We get by with the use the of ready meals and frozen instant mash etc.

All in all we get by.

It does not worry me about the flu just found it rather insulting that I am not classed as a carer because I work outside the home. But I was allowed a swine flu jab wonder if that is because I have that piggy look about me :rotfl:

It may be worth your while to have the assessment but when you pay for yourselves you get nowt in this society, it all goes to people who are "entitled" to everything instead of people like you.

We are in a similar boat and we havnt bothered to have anyone meddeling but if you dont have huge savings it might be worth looking at, especially if you are awarded tax credits.
