i am not having much luck :( with webcam

:mad: My web cam has just tsarted to muck around i am using microsoft lifecam vx-100 now i cannot see amy one and when i do it just freezes the person on the other end or i cannot see them but i can hear them ?

I have uninstalled it and re in stalled but nothing it is really starting to annoy me
have updated the drivers havnt done any thing diffrent from normal
can some one help me plz
as now im pulling me hair out
cannot seem to get answers from microsoft i am using vista home and as well my windows live messanger is a bit slow

How much RAM is installed on your machine? You may have too many start up programs using resources or it could be malware.

That's where I'd be looking. Video is quite bandwidth intensive and you need to be focusing on UPLOAD speed, not download.

Thats probably not the issue, most computers can handle wecam streaming as they are low quality.

Webcams are notoriously bad in terms of compatability. I remember one webcam I bought wouldn't work with my laptop because the specific brand of usb port my lapport had waqsn't compatible (for some reason).

I returned mine and just bought another one, its not worth the hassle keeping something that takes so much effort to use or sort out

download 7.25 upload0.63 and ping 63/ it was working all ok but then in last 2 weeks it has done this i have tryed restore back 2 weeks but still doing it and have tryed unistalling msn then reinstalling but thats all i get on this bleeding pc is

destination folder access denied you need premission to preforn this ? and im the adim ? so dont know wots wrong there
i have now brought a new webcam but cannot get the sound on that as its all crackley but its ok on skype /

and every time i try to remove a file it says access denied ?

He's probably confused by the ketchup and gravy splashes. I'm relieved you decided to put your trousers back on though.


Re the run as administrator - yes you probably are running an an administrator account but for reasons best known to the geniuses at Redmond you still have to right click and select the "run as administrator" to get some things to work. If it's deleting files I've found that running the command prompt (cmd) as administrator then manually navigating to the correct place using cd commamds allows you to delete stuff with del or rd that you couldn't from explorer. Vista is a steaming pile of brown stuff.
