I am getting an error message from Windows update and then it says I might have a virus. But I have scanned with MSE, Malewarebytes and even an online scanner and they all say there is nothing there. Any suggestions?

What does the error message actually say?
Do you know what updates were being installed?0 -
Not using that computer now so cannot quote it but the update is
update for Windows Vista (KB981793)
and it says it is important.0 -
They are all important - lol
I must admit I ditched Vista some time ago, but some info here that may help

Well I searched for error 80070017 on Microsoft Support and to cut a long story short I had to download Service Pack 1 in safe mode. That was the 3rd on a list after renaming a file in Notepad and something else neither of which worked. But the download of the service pack 1 in safe mode has worked and now Windows Update works as it should. I thought I would mention it in case anyone else has the same trouble.0
