Hello all,
I am looking to buy a laptop for the first time. I'm looking for a brand new one not refurbished. I know the spec I am after and have found 2 that meet the requirements so was wondering what you thought would be better, or if anyone knows of anything better. I want to stick to either Sony, Toshiba or Samsung.
I am after at least a dual core duo processor or Intel Core i3. 4GB Ram, 320GB+ HDD. Screen size more than 15", bluetooth and a dedicated graphics card. The 2 I have found are:
First is the Samsung R-780 which has Intel® Core™ i3-330M Dual Core Processor, 17.3" HD Screen, Windows 7 Home Premium Edition, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, DVD Rewriter, Dedicated Graphics, NP-R780-JS04UK.
Second is the Sony VPCEC1M1E/WI which has, Intel Core™ i3-330M, 4GB, 500GB, 17.3" Screen, Dedicated Graphics 512MB
The Sony is slightly cheaper, but not by much. Comments and opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Nav

Hi Nav ...
I assume that you don't want this to be portable - because I bought a 17inch screen laptop & it is fine .... but heavy!!! NOt really suitable for carrying around.

Hi Nav
I have just bought the better spec'd model - the Samsung NP-R780-JS05UK from Pixmania, it was delivered today (in 3 working days) and has Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed - with cashback from TCB it cost £630 delivered!
Pixmania have a bit of a poor reputation on the web but I cannot fault them on this purchase
I saved over £100 compared with the cheapest price on the web and I figured that if I have to send it back to France for repair at any time in the future, the cost of the postage will be paid out of this initial saving - hopefully it will be fine and I get to keep the whole £100.
I have only had chance to switch on and setup at the moment but so far it's a cracking laptop for the price!!0 -

Hi,
I was looking at that one too, but I took the plunge and went for the Samsung R580 in the end. It had what I needed, got it from Save On Laptops, for around the same price Play.com have got it for, but got next day delivery, so should be here tomorrow. Its got good reviews, so looking forward to using it.0
