Hi there,
I have just replaced a faulty motherboard on my dads old socket A Athlon XP PC, and need a bit of assistance with the FSB and BIOS settings.
The CPU is a Athlon XP 2100+, but is only being recognised as a 1500+.
My setup is as follows:
2 x 256MB PC2700 (333MHz)
ASRocks k7s41 motherboard
Leadtek Nforce 64Mb AGP graphics
On the old Leadtek motherboard the FSB was set to 133
On the new ASRocks motherboard, the only options for the FSB are 200/266/333/400MHz
The jumpers came set at 266MHz which correctly recognised the CPU as a 2100+, but this caused problems on the windows install as it kept hanging. So I reverted back to 200MHz FSB, which was fine for the windows install but the CPU is now only registering as a 1500+
Any help will be much appreciated

Are you sure that its not recognising it as 1500mhz? that would prob be the speed an Athlon 2100+ runs out!
Its notlike pentium where 2.4 IS 2.4ghz.. for athlon 2600 is NOT 2.6ghz

The XP2100 runs at 1733Mhz which is a 13x multiplier at 266(/2)MHz.
If you are underclocking the FSB to 200MHz then you are telling the mainboard that it is a slower processor.
Make sure any jumpers on the motherboard are set correctly.
It looks like all BIOS versions of that board support the XP2100 so that shouldn't be an issue. It could be that other devices such as the memory (check with memtest and make sure the RAM timings aren't too tight) or graphics card (try another if you have one) have a problem running at that speed.
Make sure you have a decent PSU as this can be the cause of these type of problems. If you have a cheapy 400W or less, you could be asking for trouble.
If you are getting problems installing Windows running at the correct FSB, you could try reducing it during the installation and then increasing back to the correct value after Windows has installed.0
