Query re applying for tax credits

Hi folks,
Hopefully someone can clarify a couple things for me so i can finally fill in my tax credits form that has been sitting in my bedside table for a fair while now
I currently work full time as does my partner we have 2 children 4 / 11 and a 3rd due in october.
My contract ends at the end of August when i will start my maternity leave and maternity pay, i am unsure if this will be paid through my current employer or the gov..
- Am i right in thinking that i give tax credits all my current details based on last year then in august phone up with my new income?
- my partner works regular 12 hour shifts, 8 hrs salary 4 hrs overtime but he pretty much works these every day, how do i work this when putting in how much he will earn as this could potentially be cut at anytime?
- my son is currently in private nursery, his fees change monthly due to school hols as he recieves funding when the schools are in but doesnt when they are on hols / in service, he will be stopping and going to a council run nursery in august so no childcare costs as of then?
Any advice would be much appreciated

take the figure off his P60 for last year

take the total annual bill and deduct the funding then average out the monthly payment (you will then be basing this on slightly more hours out of hols but less hours than actual during hols)

advise them of the changes in circumstances, new baby, childcare costs etc as they happen
re maternity leave and husbands hours (if the overtime is removed) I think you have 2 options here
tell them as they happen and ask to be reassessed on the new estimated earnings
leave as it is and possibly get a lump sum next year if you have been underpaid0
