Plus One or Not Plus One?

I say NO + 1's unless
- you have met them more than twice (and seeing them drive by in the car does not count!)
- they are permanant/semi permanently in the picture
AND
- you like them and can carry more than a 10 min convo with them before it turns to the weather
Chances are, the +1 doesnt want to come either if they are going to be bored ( and risky as they may start drinking lots at your expense!)
I am phasing my invites - first to really important people I really want there, and if it looks like i dont have enough guests then i will start adding other halves/close work people. I agree with everyone that at the end of the day it is your wedding and you can do what you want.0 -
Hi,
We have only given plus 1s to people in serious relationships/married, or those who really won't know anyone else. I don't want some randomer looking at me! Having about 50 in the day.0 -
Thanks everyone for all the views and great tips I feel much better. I should say we are not having our ceremony until 3pm and then straight to reception so our "breakfast" is actually around 5pm and by evening guests I mean people coming after that for DJ etc.
I got myself in a bit of a tizz yesterday about numbers and plus ones but looking at it sensibly now. Pretty much going along the lines of someone above re cousins and work people.
Thanks, I knew this was the place to come

My B2B & I are having 150 guest for the wedding and wedding breakfast
We got our invite list down to 150 to a tee but we had a good look at the list last night and have managed to get it down to 140 by knocking off a few + 1 guests
Virtually all the people invited will know each other and both sides of our family and friends are a friendly bunch.
The 10 we've saved we can pass onto to other close family members and friends that we both know well that we couldnt include before
Some of the + 1 guests we've added we've never met so it doesnt make sense adding them. They can come to the evening disco reception.
When we did the first draft of our guest list it was coming in at > 180 people. A lot of them were cousins. You have to be realistic and cut or your will end up inviting more than you want or can afford, sad but true but were happy and thats all that matters.
People can moan, asking why so and so isnt on the list but at the end of the day its your Wedding and not theirs.. simple as that"One Man Can Make A difference" Michael Knight KNIGHTRIDER0
