TBH it doesn't suprise me that much - the dealer I bought my last car from had a top of the range car in the showroom that was pre-registered but with very little mileage on it.

Turned out the reason for this was that it was dead on arrival (and in fact dead before it was even shipped to the UK) and the person who bought it was advised to reject it so that the dealer could be reimbursed by the manufacturer for it.

It's now for sale at a discounted price "because the wrong colour of carpet was put in it in the factory" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

One of the VAG group, btw ;)

    NEW CARS ARE RARELY NEW.

Drive past some of the larger compunds (ususally near shipping ports) and you will see new unregistered cars that have been sitting there for months if not years.

When you order a new car it simply means that vehicle has not been registered before. The car itself could be several years old.

I dont think the retailer will give you much on this one.
Its a new model, and he probably shouldnt be registering it as a sold unit this early (unless he can get a replacement to put in the showroom) so he thinks he is doing you a favour by selling you this.

Cars in compounds don't have 100s of people playing with everything in them like display models do though! (and are covered in pre-delivery wax, etc etc)

I am really unhappy that my new car is an ex display model and have now lost confidence in the dealer.

Why.... Pray tell.... Do people have confidence in stealers in the first place?
