Back to work session at jobcentre

Hi i have a group back to work session at the jobcentre tomorrow.Just wandering if anyone here has been to one and what i should expect.
I suffer socialanxiety and im really not comfortable about these sort of things, will i be expected to talk about my job hunting experience, etc in this group?
Also has anybody here not turned up?Did they stop your benefits?

  • I was unemployed from June to October last year and had a back to work session in September.
There was about 10 of us and we didn't have to talk about our job seeking experiences
My son didn't go to his session a few weeks ago as he had been offered a job and he was told he would lose a weeks benefits if he didn't have a good enough reason for missing the session !

I went to one a about a month ago, These two JCP staff were telling us how to look for work phoning businesses, sending speculation letters etc. I was more surprised by the fact that they were pushing the amount of benefits that are available when you return to work after being out of work for over 6 months!!

Try not to worry as it's more of a sit and listen thing, Mine only lasted about half an hour.

I imagine that those with social anxiety will not find using the telephone as easy as those without the disorder :D(although I may be mistaken :rotfl:)
