help pls, advice on electric combi boilers
HI i am hoping to buy a house but the problen is is that it's all electric and currently has storage heaters. I hear these aren't very good and was wondering if any you knew about electric combi boliers, i had read old threads on here but that's it they are old i didn't know if newer technology had improved these and if they were any good. Just worried that my electric bills when we move will be massive . Thanks in advance Micaela

Sadly there is no way to improve the efficiency of electrical heating as it is all 100%
Storage heaters do have drawbacks - mainly that they tend to leak heat during the day and run out of heat in the evening.
However the heat they do produce is on cheap rate - as is the hot water; but you pay a higher rate for your daytime tariff.
There is a case for going onto all electric heating on a normal 24/7 tariff - particularly if the house is empty during the day - but don't be fooled into buying fancy electrical heating systems thinking they are cheap to run - they ain't!
Assuming you can't get gas, you might want to consider getting an Air Source Heat pump next year then some Government subsidies should be available. Not a cheap option to instal.0 -

Stick with your storage heaters any others will be much more expensive.
If you really don't want electric heating perhaps oil fired heating could be an option, this is quite common in areas where there is no gas supply0
