SoGA DOES NOT specify that a product should last for any specific time.
I think you have been made a very reasonable offer, if you think you can do better, then you will have to get an "engineer" to prove that the TV suffered from an inherent defect or manufacturing defect and then take legal action to support this.

If you read my original post I did get an engineer, he said that a small part failed and because the circuitry wasn't protected it caused major damage to the screen.
Surprised that so many people on here are happy to accept such bad products, whatever happened to people standing up for their rights. No wonder companies can get away with so much.0 -

I'm not - that's why I do my research and don't buy rubbish from the likes of LG.whatever happened to people standing up for their rights. No wonder companies can get away with so much.
so you think you should have a TV for effectively free for 14 months or do you think you should pay for that period?0 -

I don't think I should pay for that period, it is not acceptable that a TV should fail in such a big way so soon after manufacture.
Lets hope your super TV doesn't go the same way.0 -
But you've had the benefit for 14 months so yes you should pay for it. Whether you think so or not consumer legislation (SOGA) says you should.Thinking critically since 1996....0

After that you have the right to claim damages if you can prove certain things.

IT does state teh item must last a reasonable time with 6 years as the legal route cut off. Common example is you cant expect a garden cain to last a year but you can expect a Tv to last over 6years.

If you read the OP original post you'll find they did get a engineers report. It does say that in the case of refund, your entailed to a refund of the portion original purchase price dependant on how long you've had and how long an item is reasonable expected to last.

I probaly will have to pay for that period, still don't think it's right though.
Of course I would accept a fairer offer.0 -

I think they are being stingy with their offer but you're probably not entitled to much more than an extra £50-£100. Keep pestering them and escalating. Eventually I am sure they'll cave just to get you to go away.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

My TV was a 1080P and the cheapest equivalent in Curry's is this one at £549.00.
