I renewed/upgraded my mobile contract in March and since then O2 have made part of the tariff (the unlimited Blackberry internet bolt on) free. On my last bill my account was credited with, with no intervention by me, £135, which is equivalent to the unlimited internet portion of my tariff at £7.50 over 18 months.
I don't know why the did this, they didn't have to and I've not heard of it being done before but it was really nice of them. The only downside is that they didn't just reduce the tariff rather than crediting that account.
Has this happened to anyone else?
