Returning a faulty item without packaging

Hi.
I bought a Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver (the new one) just under 5 weeks ago. Yes it was for me, not going to pretend I don't love all Doctor Who stuff like that. however since then the spring loaded action (it isn't actually spring loaded but worked in the same way) has stopped catching and just pops open most of the time. Now the complicated bit, I no longer have the packaging, so my question is can I still return the item to the store I bought it from? (I still have the receipt so that part isn't a problem.)

Thanks in advance

Chris

Yes you can. You do not need the packaging.

They could offer a repair, replacement or refund.

In the first six months it is for the seller to prove that the item was not faulty at the time of purchase. It will be difficult for them to prove that.

    Thanks :)

Only other problem is that some times the catch holds quite well (but a fair amount of the time I just pops back open) hopefully I can show the store assistant the problem easily :)

Just hop in your tardis to the point in time when you got the sonic screwdriver and take the packaging from yourself. I am amazed you did not work this out for yourself - is it safe to let you have a sonic screwdriver?
    Thanks in advance

Real Timelords don't give thanks in advance. They come back and do it in person.

Ha ha!! But us Time Lords know that crossing your own time line is very risky and can result in the end of the universe. Not really worth the risk for a bit of plastic :)

Anyway, went back to the shop, told them the problem and they refunded me :) Was helped when the damn thing sprung open and hit the person behind the counter in the face, she instantly said "yep it's faulty, I will sort a refund out now" which was good as I hadn't even explained fully what the problem was but hey
