Spendaholics aahhhhhhhhh

Totally agree with you!!
I was watching an episode the other night on sky where the guy was a gadget junkie and they reduced his allowed spending on gadgets from a couple of hundred to £50 per month???? How about not buying any flipping gadgets at all - now there's a thought!?! not exactly essential life sustaining requirements compared to the huge amount of debt this individual has accrued!
Makes me laugh the way they manage the budgets on spendaholics, far too soft.
I must admit i do prefer bank of mum and dad - much tougher! The look on the parents face when they realise how much their darling offspring actually owes is quite interesting. Its also funny how quickly so called grown up men and women revert to child like even toddler behaviour when their parents try to help them. I think it should be a combined effort - bank of mum and dad & super nanny -that would be interesting!!!!!0 -
I want realistic people not young idiots with soft touch parents ( a generalisation i know). Must be nice to be able to borrow thousands of mummy and daddy
Erm... no its not! This is the bulk of my debt, you are forever beholden to the folks, they keep extending it for no reason, causes shed loads of pressure and arguments, and then wonder why Im so carp with money  :rotfl::beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
When I first saw bank of mum and dad I cringed at the thought of going through it! That was a huge motivator to get sorted!!
Now, they'd just be depressed at how little savings I have... oh well...
Maybe it's a way of sticking to your DF date..if I'm not repaid by "x/xx/xx" I'll tell dad....Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
I think the point of the programme is to identify where people are going wrong, and help them address the issues that make them behave the way they do. I could have slapped the bloke last night too - £300 a week earnings and he wants to live on fillet steak and Tanqueray Gin? Moron extraordinaire.
However, the budgets they give them do allow for paying off debt (The bloke last night would have paid off his mum in four years), but also allow them treats which make them less likely to break the bank altogether. I know some people do not have that luxury, and they should encourage them to go completely DFW, but they are being practical about what people can stick with, and come up with cost-effective ways to get their kicks.
Hell, it's better than nothing, and does reinforce the point that it is not acceptable to have oodles of debt. It shows that working out of debt means cutbacks but does give hope.
Stack this against all the Ocean Finance stuff anytime.
I also wanted to slap his mother. I borrowed £3250 off my mum for an unexpected money problem and will be paying her back monthly with interest. Who lets her son take £19K without paying it back??Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....
