Father in Law buys a brand new Corsa 4 years ago from Evans Halshaw.

Fully serviced by EH and 38k on the clock cam shaft goes.

EH quote him £850 for it to be fixed.

He decides to part ex it instead with - Evans Halshaw who give him £2800 against..... Another Corsa!!

I thought he was winding me up when he told me!!

Common fault, it's a hollow camshaft apparently.

£850 to repair for a retail customer. But they will do it in house for cost.
  • Apparently the camshaft bearing carrier bolts work loose on these which leaves the cam floating about and it breaks...common fault though the dealer will no doubt have been staggered that such a thing could have happened.

Some people just seem to like these cars, i can't fathom it out either and like Mr L it staggers me that they will pour more money into the same bottomless pit for an inferior product that had it been made by Kia/Huyndai would have still been under warranty anyway.

thing is that was probably factored into the price of the trade in so father in law has probably effectively paid for the job to be done and more on top probably
    :D
  • Yes my dad did the same, on going fault on his Fiesta so traded it in on another Fiesta :undecided
Nothing to see here, move along.
