Help - scratched leather sofa :-(

DS age 6 has scratched our almost new chocolate brown sofa with his mini screwdriver:mad: Once would have been bad enough but the little !!!! has done it 4-5 times right across the seat cushion:sad:  .

it is only superficial damage but still looks awful. Is there anything I can do to "hide" the marks;) we only got the sofa last month, and I am gutted.

...also what punishment would you recommend?

Remove his tv privilages - tends to concentrate the mind

the arms on our sofa were badly scuffed, a little man came out and patched them up pretty well with a colour match. an invisible mend.
guess it's just finding one where you are..

ps hairspray gets rid of biro from leather

You might well be able to claim for accidental damage on insurance. The chap who fixed a tear (and this was an actual tear, not just a scratch) did a fantastic job - it was practically invisible. He was from Perfect Leather Solutions (https://www.perfectleathersolutions.co.uk).

Does it have a wax type coating?

we took out the leather care from DFS when we bought ours, it got some scratched in it and when the guy cam out he just ran a hot air gun over it and rubbed it his sort of melting the waxy coating a bit and it was as good as new, he said a hair dryer would do the same job but be careful not to get it too hot so it doesn't bubble

how does hairspray work? I have just been hoovering our new sofa and there is biro all over one of the seats. I don't want to start spraying hairspray willy nilly and make it worse!!

It should be ok just to spray hairspray onto the leather but try it out first on the back of one of the cushions. If you are still worried, spray the hairspray onto a cotton bud and just wipe over the biro marks.

Hairspray also works on permanent marker (especially good on the red permanent marker that clothes shops use to mark sale items and often get all on the sleeve or front!)
