Too soon for pregnancy symptoms?

Hi

I ovulated four days ago and had sex. Now I am feeling incredibly nauseous. I am wondering if I may have got pregnant but this seems ridiculously early for symptoms, so I am wondering if it is food poisoning however I only feel sick, no other symptoms that would lead me to believe food poisoning or pregnancy

Sorry if you were hoping, but I would be very surprised if you had pregnancy symptoms at this time. Having said that is it possible that you are closer to 6 weeks pregnant?6 weeks is the sort of time to expect symptoms. I find when I am worked up about something sometimes I feel sick, do you want a baby and are hopeful or not and fearful? It could just be a gastric bug.

Again I would be surprised if you felt anything so early but a friend of mine who is co-incidentally a midwife has always said she knew she was pregnant with her first almost immeadiately. We were both student nurse at the time.

She has three now and the baby in question is 20!

Thanks guys. When I was pregnant with my daughter I knew instinctively I was pregnant before my period was even late. I have been badly bloated since yesterday, today I look three months gone! I wasn't planning to have a baby but starting to think there is a chance I may be though I am trying to be strict with myself before I know for sure so I don't head for a possible big disappointment.

You wouldn't have conceived the day you ovulated - you might not even have conceived now!

If you don't particularly want another child, why on earth would you have unprotected sex during your most fertile time??!!

I seem to recall (but could be wrong) that it takes around 5-7 days after the egg's been fertilised for it to implant and then start producing pregnancy hormones, so 4 days after would seem too short unless you got the time of ovulation wrong.

without being too graphic changes in my mucus seemed to indicate I ovulated Wednesday/Thursday. Chances are I am not pregnant, it's probably a tummy bug, I just thought there might be a link with the unprotected sex last week at the time of ovulation and the nausea now

With DS2 I conceived around the Wednesday, felt sick on the Friday and began my 24 weeks of throwing up several times a day on the Saturday.

I wouldn't get too excited just yet though, it could just be a tummy bug.

Although not sickness, I had other symptoms about a week after having unprotected sex. I'm now 26 weeks along :)

Like others have said, it could be a bug though :)

Thanks. I don't mean to be obsessing over it. It's not planned but it wouldn't be unwanted either. However my last pregnancy ended in a late miscarriage and so I am fearful too and want to know if I am because then I can start dealing with it.
