Condensation between double glazing panes

Hi

I have just noticed a build up of condensation in between the glass panes in my double glazing, after thinking the whole thing would have to be replaced at first (devastated) my dad has been over today and said I can get someone to replace / treat the glass to get the condensation out.

Has anyone got any recommendations of companies who do this (leeds area) and if not who much it cost?

Cheers!

Any glazing company will do double glazed units on a supply and fit basis. You need to get them to come out to measure. Cost will be dependent on size. Will be cheaper per unit to get a number done than just one.

We had this problem, virtually the whole window was misted up. The outside pane was replaced and resealed and no problem since. Also had a small window replaced that was cracked in another room, total cost was £400 for one very large pane and one small one.

Thanks guys, Tiff which company did you go through? My window is a relatively small one in the box room so I cant see it being more than what you paid!

That sound like far too much. How big are the two windows?

It was someone DH knew from football, an older guy who runs his own glazing business in Bristol.

They used safety glass if that makes a difference, the glass they took away was much lighter than the new one. Largest window was approx 80" x 44", cant be bothered to go and measure small window.

Any help with specific companies / prices would be great guys!
  • I might be a bit late for this thread, but we replaced our double glazed units which had condensation inside.

I needed 10 small units replacing (300mm x 300mm) and I was quoted £580 by a local window company. (They had a minimum charge of £50+vat per unit). I did a bit of ringing around and found a small company who made the units and I got the lot for £100 plus a tube of silicone to fit and seal them in.

Easy diy job, gently ease off the beading, slip the unit it, silicone up and replace the beading.

My windows were hardwood, but check if UPVC beading comes off in a similar way.

I think this makes a masive saving of over 400%!!!

I've used these people in the past :-

Its a franchise operation so the guy who does the work will depend upon where abouts you are in the country.

I had 4 windows (a bay) replaced with Pilkington K glass and the cost was £55 incl VAT PER WINDOW - a price I was more than happy with as they were biggish windows and much much cheaper than whole new frames, etc.

  • Hello, i have a window in my rented house that has condensation in the double glazing. It lets in a draft and the curtains move when they're drawn and i sometimes have to check the window is shut.

Does the landlord have to replace this or do i have to fork out?
