Usb 2

Hope we have a real techie in here my emachines pc threw its toys out the pram recently :p i transferred over 3gig from it to my laptop using a 1gig usb 2 stick this went well and about a week later i suffered a crash and the toys were tossed out.
Now when i plug in the usb stick it tells me the device is faulty but it works fine on my laptop :mad: has this happened to anybody else on this forum if so i would appreciate contact cheers eds.....

    the crash could have mangled you drivers, you tried a system restore to some point before the crash?
    Ever stop to think and forget to start again?
  • System restore doesnt help this is i think a driver problem dont have access to usb2 drivers cheers eds..... :mad:

    Plug your USB stick in, then go into Device Manager, open up the USB tree in there you should see it connected. If you cant tell which it is, unplug, then reconnect USB stick to see which one disappears then comes back. Right click on the usb stick in Device Manager, then click driver.

    Unplug, reboot PC, then stick USB stick in and it should plug n play the drivers back on and hopefully it should work.

    Works everytime my usb stick goes belly up :)
  • Yep cheers steve tried that but its the pc thats went belly up not the stick cheers eds.....

    Is it just the USB Stick that your computer brings up this fault with, or does it do it with all USB devices?
