I've been away for 2 weeks, and since I got back my IE8 isn't the same as when I left. Previously when I clicked on New tab the most frequently visited sites were displayed as icons, so easy to click on. Thats gone, and I get 'What do you want to next' splash screen instead. Is this because there's been an update, and can I get back to my old style? Also if I have two tabs open, the one I don't have displayed flashes on the task bar, and sometimes even opens (displays) instead of the one I'm actually using. Why does it do this, it didn't until a few days ago?
Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Has anyone else been using the computer whilst youve been away?

Hiya aliEnRIK, How are you? Only my OH was here, and he says he didn't touch it. I've done Malwarebytes check, virus scan, checked Google (probably not too well), and the Microsoft site. I did find out how to get History to show most visited sites (all but 2 are MSE) but that doesn't help if you haven't had access for a couple of weeks, and you haven't saved them in Favourites. The changing of viewed pages when you don't want to is just plain annoying.

Not that this is a help, but mine has done the same, there was an update a few days ago and now if i open a second tab it gives me options of what do i want to do, instead of the previous most visited page icons i had before

Finally found out that this (new tab browsing)was a feature of the Google toolbar. M'soft has had this feature removed from the Google add-on, so it won't work now in IE8, but it will in Firefox, so I might try that instead. Perhaps that will also fix my problem with tabbed webpages opening without my clicking on them! Thanks to everyone.
