    Afterthought, Is it alcoholic?

My recipe isn't. (although if you don't leave it in a cold place it might ferment after a while....!)

Citric/tartaric acid can be bought from chemists, brewers supply shops or even tescos (I noticed ours had home brewing supplies in the other day, which I have never seen in there before!). It is a preservative in a white powder form. It can be difficult to get hold of as it is apparently used in drug dealing (!) so be persistent and be prepared to explain what you need it for!!

They are just starting to some out here (Northern end of the East Midlands!) and I saw some Elders in pretty much full bloom further south in lincolnshire last week

I'm in SW London and ours is in full bloom, although I guess it depends on where you are in the country.

No - there are a few out. I found one in the Cotswolds on Tuesday and made lovely elderflower fizz with it that night.

There seemed to be rather a lot of bushes along the Thames tow paths, also in Bushey park, Teddington area. Hope it's not too far for you to go :)

Thank you, hubby used to live in Hampton Wick many moons ago, any excuse to go to busy park again and maybe a cycle along the tow path too.

Funnily enough, after finding this thread I went looking for my grolsch bottles and found that one of them had a couple of inches of last year's cordial in. Wow, what a bang when I took the lid off!! And a very pleasant drink it was too...hic....
