    Doubtful

If you open 2 pages of IE then youll get 2 up (or 3 or 4 etc)
Shouldnt make much difference though unless RAMS on its limits

Are you sure that one wasnt just 'explorer.exe' (main windows program)

It means you've got too many things running at once, or at startup

When the peak gets near the limit, you will get virtual memory messages, one solution is to increase the maximum size of your page file in control panel, system, advanced, performance, settings, advanced, virtual memory, but a better solution is to review the bloat you have running using the link above, because your computer will be running slower than it needs to.

virtual memory runs from your hard disk what you need to do is dump you temp files and defrag your hard disk if i remember correctly also in the advanced memory setup you can set you limit higher as well.
start>controlpanel>perfomance>if remembering right 3rd one down click on left there will dump all the rubbish after doing that in performance menu 5th one down on the left is disk defrag also after doing that then go back into the third one down on the list in permo menu again you will see advanced set up for virtual memory there you can set limits higher on the hard disk but you need to clear out every so often or will fill up and the same problem will appear. hope this helps basil

OP has loads of free space, cleaning temp files and defragging won't fix it, but increasing the max size of the page file will

closed sorry to have to disagree with you here limits are set within performance advanced menu of xp as i had this problem several years ago with 240gb free, used all the allowed space(which had a set place on the drive space) and xp does not allow automatic expansion of the virtual memory! i dumped it and it worked again then when in tripled the space never had the problem again after that. so i hope clears it up a bit with what i actually experienced.
