tiscali broadband

A friend has tiscali broadband and his having problems, just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem. He has been with tiscali for aprox 3 yrs

He has 1 pc and a lap top and a wireless connection.

The internet connection says-cannot find server.

Tiscali arnt been helpful-passed from one person to another.

They say it must be the computer, and they say it will take 5 days to check the line- it is now 7 days and they still havnt checked the line.

He has tried changing back to the original modem rather than wireless on Pc or laptop and still doesnt work. Also tried system restore no help either.

Anyone had or having a similar problem??

Goto the router configuration page, and see if it connected and authenticated.

do you have filters on all lines?

Does it work wired with an ethernet connection? Which router?

there are filters, but he also tried it dirctly into phone socket.

Not sure which router, but he has connected the original wired modem which he used orior to wireless connection and this doesnt work either

Yes I had the same problem with Tiscali, was using a router and I just got the famous cannot find server white page.

Then I tried my origional ADSL modem I got off Tiscali, still the same.

I rang the Tech department in India, we went through all the tests on my computer and still no joy, then I was put on hold for 10 mins, then he got back to me and said, there is a problem with our exchanges and the problem will be fixed in 24 hour. I tired my connection again after a few hours and it was ok.

But there was always an intermintent problem with my connection, i.e it would just go off and on, particulily on a sunday.
