Tough dog mattress

Can anyone recommend a tough dog mattress?

I'm sick of paying out for blankets and such to go in their beds, only to have them shredded the next day lol. Thought I'd try and see if I can get something a little tougher.

Thanks.

If theya re chewing then don't go for quality - go for quantity and buy cheap blankets, duvets or towels from the local charity shops. I get old duvets from Freecycle - use and then throw away rather than wash.

To be honest, I'm sick of doing that lol. I've gone through all the old blankets and duvets and towels in the house, and in the family lol. They don't chew as such, they tend to play tug of war with the blankets, and that's how they get ripped (caught them doing just that several times lol). So I am thinking if I get something thicker, heavier that can't pick it up to play tug of war with it.

I feel your pain, my dog chews all his bedding up. I got him a nice cushion bed for Christmas and it cost me £25, it lasted 1 week before it was shredded. I now buy him cushion beds from the local market, at £5 a throw it doesnt matter if he rips them, I tend to buy him a new one every 2 months and as it is only a fiver i dont really notice it.

Vet bed - proper stuff, really tough.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

One of mine turned 40 quids worth of Vetbed into postage stamped size bits in one night!

It's great stuff, but not for chewers or shredders.

Two of the resident Rottweilers at the kennels where I work have these - they are excellent and very, very hardwearing - though a bit pricey!

If I could afford them I would definately use them. Google for lots of independant reviews.

    HTH :D.

My mum works in a local hospital, they routinely throw out all their blankets and duvets, due to health and safety and hygiene. Im not sure every hospital is the same, but if you can find someone who works in one its very handy. We get a continuous supply of blankets (like babies ones with holes in) and it seems these are one sort our dog wont shred. HTH

Thanks for the replies. The tuffies look good, but way out my budget.

Gonna pop to pets at home in the week, they have some three peaks stuff on their site that looks okay.

I'm told that Bronteglen is good for vetbed. However when I emailed them to see how they would stand up to a bull terrier chewing at them I didn't get a reply - nil points for customer service!
Mutt got really bad at chewing and eating her blankets a month or two back, so much so that I got seriously concerned for her health. I removed all the blankets and just left her a square of hessian backed non-fluffy carpet in her box. She was seriously unhappy and hated sleeping in it, but 3 weeks with no blanket broke the habit and now I've put them back in she's a lot happier and apart from the odd nibble is pretty much leaving them alone.
    Might be worth a try.
The tuffies look good but would be useless for mine. Anything padded like that she humps for hours on end till she takes the skin off her feet and is bleeding everywhere. Silly sod.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Best thing i ever got to use as a dog bed is a babies cot mattress!! You can pick them up for about £19 on the well know auction site. I got mine from a man throwing it at the local tip! it a sprung one so good on my greyhounds bones. Would definately reccomend getting one :)
