DAB ariels

Just bought a sony mini Hi-Fi, with DAB radio. Reception is OK but the handbook recommends an external arial. Don't want to go to the bother of one of these, can anybody recommend a suitable internal one? at the moment it is a metre length of wire-can I improve on this?

I bought the same thing last November - a Sony Hi-Fi with DAB. I still have the aerial they supplied, and it works perfectly well. It's just that occasionally I have to move it slightly, but other than that it's fine. I have no intention of buying anything until this aerial falls apart...:)

If you want to make an aerial to improve reception, this webpage describes how to make a Slim Jim.

The scaled dimensions for DAB are:

tube length 96cm
feed point distance 48mm
break point distance 310mm
gap length is 37mm

Obviously for internal use it would not need to be weatherproofed, it is the measurements that are important.

If you go to this web page and enter your postcode it will list all the stations that should be available to you.If you can get them all (or at least the ones you're interested in) there's probably no need to spend any money on an aerial.
