Hi
My mother in law is over the retirement age but has continued working part time as she enjoys her job and also it brings in extra money. The company she works for have now asked her to retire in 6 months, I have had a look at the legislation etc and it appears they are quite within their rights to do this.
My concern is that she still has a mortgage and a loan to pay on her house and I am pretty certain that she will not be able to afford to pay these if she has no job. Is there any help she would be able to get from benefits or is it a simple case of sell the house?
thanks

Does she have any other pension?0

hi
no she has no other pension that I am aware of.
thanks0 -
She should try for help from the Pension Service. Depending on her income she could well get help with the mortgage interest payments but not the capital repayments. If the loan is secured then they'll pay the interest on this only if it was for essential work on the property.I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!0
