Sorry, but my crystal ball is not working today!
Seriously, how do you expect anyone to predict next months inflation rate?
IMPO. it is somewhat irrelevant when you invest, provided you hold for the full term.In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
Looking at the Retail Prices Index figures, if you invest in May the start figure will be 220.7. If you wait until June the start figure will be 222.8. By investing in May you build in the 0.95% monthly increase into the final return.0

I don't think it's something that's answerable by anything other than speculation and second guessing.
Personally I have bought this month (May) as I expect VAT to increase following the 22nd June Budget. When/whether that will happen I don't know but I guess it will contribute to RPI in months to come on top of other inflationary pressures.
Whatever happens my investment will do no worse than inflation and thats all you can guarantee (unless of course you don't feel that RPI/CPI is an accurate measure of your own personal inflation situation - something I've often wondered about but never got around to estimating - it's possibly the starter for a whole new threadAwaiting a new sig0 -
