does this sound right to you??

Shortly before christmas my dad passed away suddenly. It is the first time mum has had to deal with things as dad mostly made all decisions and he did all paperwork bills etc...(they were quite an old fashioned couple!) mum is still obviously feeling very shocked, lost and depressed and has alot to worry about. I do as much as i can for her but have my own set of problems and it is a 3 hour minimum round trip to visit, i still visit at least once a week and speak every day at least once if not usually more.

About 2/3 weeks ago mum a phone call from someone saying they were a police man and that someone had given this number as a contact number for registering a firearm but the address he said didnt match mums, she said no this is >>>>Her address<<<<< and no she def did not want a firearm. when she told me i thought it strange but then forgot about it. Today when visiting her she said some of the neighbours had seen someone in a 4x4 taking photos of the house????? and also her next door neighbour thought someone was in their back gardens the other night.

I am sitting here worrying and think i am going to ring the police tomoro myself but do you think i am over reacting??? mum is 59 so not really an old lady but nevertheless she is very mentally fragile still and does not like being in the house now dads gone and this is worrying her and the more i think about it the more i am worrying about her???

I am so sorry for your loss.

If I were you, I'd ring your mum's local police station and get it checked out. It would be helpful if the neighbours could write down the dates and times of the 'incidents' and/or keep a log of any other suspicious activity.

It might be that there are some crossed wires somewhere and it's all perfectly innocent. But I'd let the police sort it out so that you and your mum aren't worrying over nothing.

    xx

Would it help your mum if she got a house alarm that she could set where by the downstairs was alarmed, say at night, but could move about the upstairs?

Is it worth asking them for advice what to do in this situation?
