Pontins Prestatyn Review

WEnt on a Sun deal last week so that i could combine shopping for the wife in chester with Chester Zoo and the Blue planet.
Initial thoughts
When we arrived the site looked clean and tidy and check in was fast as we were booked into their Club Accomodation.
Driving to the Chalets it is obvious to see that there is upgrades happing all around the site.
The budget chalets look like they need demolishing and rebuilding they look that scruffy from the outside and from the looks of it so do the classic ones.
Our Chalet
My first impression was, Oh my god if they call this their top accomodation then what the hell is the budget like. ( Luckily we had already planned for this and took our own double blow up bed as i has read reviews about the sofa ones. WE ended up using the sofa bed as well because my kids thought the beds were like bricks and the sofa bed was a little better option.
The chalet had obviously been cleaned far to quickly and they had missed the fact that the previous occupants had dropped oil on the kitchen floor and failed to clean it up properly .
Other than that the place as clean and fuctional but i would call this the budget and would never be proud to call it the sites best accomodation.
The pool was dated but was well cleaned but the changing rooms were a throw back to past years, I am not used to open plan changing rooms and much prefer decency, not having to have my bits shown to the whole room.
The staff all seamed happy and freindly and seemed the best thing i can say the site had to offer.
Take on board Pontins management, your staff are a credit to you.
Again the entertainment was what you would expect on a holiday camp and was of a standard you would expect for such a place. The proper entertainment usually started after 9.30pm after the bingo. Every one around us seemed to enjoy this part of pontins.
Food
They Have a fish and chip shop onsite which price wise is good value, but companies really should not call it by that name if they are going to use processed frozen chips in it, don't get me wront it wasn't bad but it wasn't a real chip shop if you know what i mean.
Chicken and burger stall
They sell average burgers for a pound which is great as you would normally expect to pay double that on a holiday camp.
Restaraunt
This is currently being refurbished and the only offerings are those that are on the half board menu , which looked ojk but lacked any real choice, it was a bit like getting a school dinner in the 80's.
Summary
Would i return again, probably yes provided thay made the accomodation alot more accepable by todays standards and not by those in the 70's.
The staff do their best and obviouly enjoy their job and working for pontins, they just need to ugrade the accomodation to make the site more appealing as everything else was good.
People say it's only a place to stay, but if you don't have a good nights sleep then you don't have a good holiday.
Prices for drinks were ok £2.80 for fosters and a discount booklet on arrival. £3.95 for a glass of wine or a bottle of Jaques.
I really do hope they sort the problems that they have out as it could be great again.

I went last year to Pontins Prestatyn and had a great time.
It was looking a bit out of date but as you say the staff was always happy and helpful and the only problem we had was that our room was a bit cold at night and the TV was too small.
Would go again this year.0
