pc to tv problem

I have a tv to pc cable, and ive plugged it in to the tv card on the laptop and the tv - but i cant get it to work. i also have a scart adapter with the s viceo port on it, and i have tried this aswell. I wnat to have my laptop shown on the tv instead of using the tft it has.

settings i have on my tv are as follows
DTV
TV
AV1
AV2
SAV2
AV3
AV4
Componant
RGB
HDMI1/DVI
HDMI2

have tried it through AV3 with scart and SAV2 but stillc ant get it to work... do i need software or something

    quick update - still not got it working - tried it in another tv but still get the same problem.

    does this mean that it it sthe tv card? or is it not configured? or do i need software on here?

    Stab in the dark, but ..some laptops have a function key combination to turn on output, FN + F8 or similar.

    FN + F4 dont turn the tv on to my monitor :( FN button works and the F4 key works but nothing :(

    advent 3107 - (yeh, i know i need to get a new one but it works atm and i use desktop mainly)
