in Credit cards
I have been trying to tidy up my finances (thanks to this site) and have noticed that i am currently paying 17.9% on my RBOS CC (current bal £9645)
I have had this card since at least January 1999 and became a Royalties account holder in October 2000, and switched to Royalties Gold in August 2001 (for the free travel ins).
With both accounts i should have had a 1% and 2% discounts on the interest rate on the CC but this hasn't happened.
What are the chances of
a) Getting the rate reduced
and
b) Getting any reduced rates backdated?
Mortgage, current and OHs savings and business accounts are all with RBOS.

Speak to your business manager and see if its something he can help with.As far as I know with the credit card discount, its something that credit card centre should be notified of, but branch staff are too excited at getting the account upgraded to tell you anything useful!
Another option is to call the branch/customer relations and make a complaint about the excess interest you have been charged!
Good luck

weecarol,
claim for the discounts rebate, and see if your are owed any monies, either
way the interest is to high......then
get the hell out of that card to a 0% OR balance tranfer for the life deal 4.9%
or split the balance to TWO better deals,(dont spend though)-and even bank
loans are cheaper.
hope ive been of use0 -
I dont know what rates you are getting on your savings and mortgages but they could probably (like the rate on the card) be beaten by the majority of their rivals. AFAIK the rates on RBS products are not that great.0
