Online transfer from HSBC to Halifax

Hi,
I want to pay in some money into a cash isa account with the Halifax from my current account with HSBC for this tax year.
My Halifax account has a roll number in addition to an account number and sort code. The HSBC online payment system doesn't have an option to input this, will it still work fine without the roll number? The lady at HSBC didn't seem very sure.
Thanks in advance.

If there is a reference field put the roll number there.0 -

On HSBC's website, it is called "Description" rather than "Reference". The roll number is no longer necessary with Halifax, but it doesn't hurt by putting it in the Description field.0

Halifax will no longer be using roll numbers from the middle of next year.0

Really? Will this apply to just bank accounts (BoS included)? Or will they be withdrawn from other products (e.g. loans - 7/; mortgages - A/)? I'm assuming this is a LTSB integration step.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -

I think it stand for "Core Banking System" but I actually have no idea!MarkFromMullion wrote: »cbs?
The old Halifax system, from memory, was called TD01 and I don't have a clue what that stands for either despite having worked for the firm for two decades!
Basically names (or abbreviations) for the computer systems all the customer and transactional data sits on.0 -
The Halifax Roll number is a hangover from their Building Society days, it relates to the roll of members.0
