If is doesn't fit aren't they legally obliged to give you a refund under the DSR?

Apparently not. Only if it is faulty.

Most of the time they are OK with returns, but recently I bought a bra from brastop that was a bit too snug ( a different brand than I usually buy, the sizing & fit does vary between brands) but when I sent it back they refused a refund & said it was excluded from their returns policy as it was a promotion. Surely everything they sell is a promotion - certainly everything I buy is?! They reluctantly offered me an exchange but were very sniffy about that and told me I should have read the T&Cs more carefully. Now I SWEAR nothing was highlighted when I put the order through. They say it was - no real way of proving what was on screen at the time! All the paperwork/emails I had said "No quibbles " etc.

So although I have returned stuff no probs in the past, I am very wary now. As we all know, bra fitting is tricky & it is likely that you may need to return. The Customer Service used to be great, but I think they have changed.

Shame because I have had some lovely bras at great prices from them before.

So I'm just advising caution & check, check, check that it doesn't say NO Returns anywhere.

(...off to try Lingerie Heaven! Thanks workinmummy xx)

I have previously bought bras from Brastop and decided to buy one brand that I had not seen before, I boght my usual size and found it too be very small, the brand was Curvy Kate, I did not return it for a refund, but I am now wary of trying different brands because of sizing issues, especially as I have to purchase larger sized bras.

Is it not common sense that sizing will vary between brands? The only way to know is to try them, and then return them under the DSRs.
    Gone ... or have I?

Yes, sizing does vary - quite a bit.

But, as I said above, there is no obligation to replace or refund an item unless it is faulty - even under the DSRs.

brastop usually will refund/exchange no problems, but I was just highlighting the fact that with a recent purchase they claimed the bra was excluded from their usual no quibble guarentee, which was news to me.

For most things I agree but I don't understand why when it comes to the numerical part of a bra size. Surely 30 inches should be 30 inches, and 40 inches should be 40 inches, no matter who you buy it from.
    Make £5 a day in July - £105.33/£155

    Total debt July '09: £7,500
Proud to be dealing with my debts but not proud that they are still the same a year on.

Just thinking about this would it all depend on what type of elastic the brand used and where the hooks were positioned? Whether that co. measured 30inches done up or undone i suppose it does make a difference. I've been buying a lot of bra's lately lol for nursing and had to send the one back i ordered from here as it didn't have drop down straps!
Do hope i get a refund without any problems.

Ladies, think of bras like you would shoes - and you would not buy those without trying them on. All bras fit differently, you all have different shaped bodies for example, manufacturers use different materials, some give more than others. Generally you can find a brand you'll be able to wear bras from that brand in the same size. There are some times that the size will differ depending on the bra/manufacturer. A padded plunge will not fit the same as a balcony as an example.

For my size I can buy 100 different bras but there are only 4 I can wear and be comfortable in and that fit me properly. They are however, all the same size - and I've tried lots of sizes either way but some just do not fit. I hate finding a gorgeous bra and it being a bad fit - but a bad fit will show even when you have clothes on so bear this in mind too. Wear a bra for 10 minutes to ensure you are happy with the fit too.

Lastly, once you find a style of bra from a particular brand that fits you well stick with this style and size and you should not go far wrong. I choose the word style as there are many, plunge, padded plunge, balcony, full cup, moulded, etc... not all bras are suited to all body shapes, once you have been fitted you will know what to look out for in a good fitting bra.

To fit properly a bra should fit this way: the bit between the cups should sit flat against your ribcage, the band should be snug and go around the middle of your back without ANY movement. If you lift your arms and your bra goes up you are in the wrong band size and you need to go down. If it is snug but does not sit flat in the middle go up a cup size, not a band size. If you are falling out or have the 4 boob look go up a cup size. So many people try a bra on, see it is too small and go up a band size which is incorrect.
