Faulty LG TV

We bought an LG TV on 15th June 09. In November 09 it developed a fault that made it impossible to watch. It was bought through DIXONS who collected it on 29th Nov to repair and delivered it back after Christmas on 27th Dec 09. The exact same fault has now started again today. My partner spent ages on phone but eventually they will be picking it up to repair again. We do not want it repaired or replaced - we want a refund as it is clearly not up to the job and they take ages to repair it. Can we legally ask for a refund? ANGIE

You can ask, but have no automatic right to one. A second repair, while unfortunate, will rarely result in them replacing - most companies, and manufacturers will only look at so much as replacing after three failed repairs. Also, TV repairs should be sorted out now - average door-to-repair centre-to-door time last time I checked was 6 days, if parts were readily availableSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
