Tesco Elect Dept - Wii Fit Battery Pack

Purchased a Wii Fit in Tesco a month ago, and have the receipt. Two weeks ago, with my normal shopping, purchased the Wii Fit Battery pack.
Plugged it all in, left it to charge. When I got on, it told me it was worried about my health - I had lost a stone and a half overnight! (I wish...)
Batteries back in, weight back on. Pack in, weight lost. Left Wii on all night with pack plugged in, to make sure it was fully charged. Obviously a major problem with the pack.
I went back to tesco today, but as I do not keep my food receipts, forgetting I had purchased the battery pack with normal shop, they will not replace it at all. They have said as it is an electrical item and I cannot prove I purchased from them, they will not replace.
Whats my legal position?
I know it was less than a tenner (think it was actually arounf £7) but thats not the point.

Not having a Tesco receipt happened to me once. I requested that they contact 'Clubcard' to confirm details of purchase. It only took them 48 hours and once they had that info they refunded no problem.0

Thanks for that - it had crossed my mind when I was in there, but the two young girls I spoke to on "Electricals" were so determined there was nothing they could do, I chose to leave rather than cause a big fuss, cos I might have lost my temper! Ooops, even tho I know I shouldn't!!
Think I will try a different branch, and one that has a dedicated customer service.0
