I'm looking to get some high gloss kitchen cabinets. Does anyone know which is the better quality - pressed PVC foil finish or vinyl. Obviously we go to one kitchen retailer who claims x is better than y . Any thoughts?....

Hi
I don't really think there is any difference between them in durability, or anything else really, both are foils 'shrink wrapped' around an MDF core. Try to get both samples and go for the one that has clearer reflections in it. Basically they are trying to imitate a high gloss lacquer finish, you will find that the clearer it reflects light the better the finish is. Having said all this if you want the hardest wearing gloss finish then I would say it would need to be a gloss acrylic laminate or a normal polished laminate.
Good luck.
