The best way to make money from old or broken laptops?

I have two old laptops. One is so old it's very slow and doesn't work too well (I don't know much about computers so I have no idea what the real reason is!) and the other one, I think the hard drive has gone, it won't work at all. Anyway, they were both donated to me by Stepfather. I have been using my partner's laptop for some time now so don't have any need to use my old ones (they don't really work anyway!). I don't want to dump them and wondered if there was any way to make a bit of cash for parts? That kind of thing. Other than ebay is there a good way to sell old and broken laptops? Thanks very much.

eBay's probably best.

For the one that's merely 'slow' but still works, if you were to wipe the HD and reinstall an Op System, it would probably fly compared to the way it is at the moment.

For the one where the HD seems to have failed, why not try replacing the HD on it and see if it kicks into life?

You may then get more for them on eBay than in their current state....

Could take the harddrives out, put them in a caddy and use as an external harddrive. Not earning anything but still useful.
