Please can somebody explain why these irons cut ironing time in half? I am a bit concerned at all the comments regarding it falling off it's perch too - maybe Bosch are discontinuing this model for this reason...?Ellie

We used for the first time this afternoon and it definitely speeded up completing the half dozen shirts we tried it on. Could be twice as fast and this is due to the consistent steam and the power of the steam over a standard iron's performance.
Felt very stable and the hot plate thingy can be lifted off of the base unit and put on the ironing board, so no probs as far as I can see?0 -

The Argos one has a 2 year guarantee as well, so with the £5 gift voucher is better value.0 -

The JL one was actually £10 more when I first looked at this but was out of stock, and yes this item comes with a "standard" 2 year guarantee.
In may be of interest to anyone who has Nectar points to use them as well at Argos, I was saving my Nectar points up for Xmas, but used £37.50 to get this at almost half price again.
My hubby also "fixed" my old iron - it just needed descaling and now works a treat, but my new one is so, so much bettter and quicker that my old one will either be put in the loft or donated if anyone is in desparate need.

Do no under estimate the amount of time that one of these steam generator irons (SGI) will save you when ironing. I don't mean just this one of course, just any one, but i would imagine that a top end SGI would save you slightly more time.
First of all with the amount of steam that these put out i find that i can do T-shirts etc on one side only. Also if a shirt has dried too much and i would have had to give it a scoosh with a water spray then this also does the job.
You also have to consider that the steam in a SGI is generated down in the base unit, so the iron itself can be a lot lighter than some conventiional irons. You also find that you get a constant supply of steam, so is much more efficient. In a normal iron you quite often have to wait for the element to catch up and the light to come back on.
Another benefit is the large reservoir of water that they have, so you spend less time filling up if you have a mountain of ironing to do.0 -
I discovered that if you lay them out right, you can fold jeans in half and do both legs at the same time too.Illegitimi non carborundum.0
