I apply for a "mainstream " CC ?
Have a Cap! with a £1000 limit with all nice green 0`s on experian open 8 months and a Vanquis CC with a £250 limit again all green , 4 months old
Plus have a G.U.S a/c £750 and a JD Williams at £750
GUS balance is 0 , JDW is £89
Would you suggest letting them ride for a longer period ?
If yes , how long ?
If applying for Mainstream CC which would you reccomend to go for 1st ?
Many thanks !

have you always had a clean credit history etc? are you on contract mobile etc as they also report to CRA's if so, why not try a main stream card now?
The one thing i would check, is how many searches you have had on your report recently ie if the one is only 4 months old, did you appply for any others or any loans etc around that time that would show up as sometimes to many searches in a short period (ie 6 months-12 months) can be negative
I am 28 and got my first card when i was 19, even when had no credit history, didnt bother for a non "mainstream" card.
First one i applied for was with my own bank (lloyds) and got accepted no problems. That may be something you want to try, as long as you have a good history with your own bank, see what cards they offer and see which one you fit into the criterea for (ie some have minum incomes etc)MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
