Dog in rented flat - admin charges. Help!

My landlord had agreed we can have a dog (yay)
the property is fully managed by Romans lettings. They aeasking for an extra £100 for the deposit which is understandable. But they also want to charge £117 for admin costs (amending the contract) this seems a bit excessive.
Any loopholes to reduce the admin costs?!

no loopholes as LA fees are entirely non-regulated... talk to the Landlord and say that you think it is excessive.. so if he can put pressure on the agency... otherwise.. pay up..... As a LL i charge a lot more than an extra £100 for a dog....0

Why does the contract need amending?

The question was for the OP!!! How do you know the contract does not allow for a dog? You might well be right, but do not assume, as this creates poor advise to other posters

To be honest, the time to negiotate such things is when your current lease expires. If you say "we will leave if we cant have a dog" then the LL and LA will be losing a lot more than £100 in re-advertising and lost rent.0

Our contract says we can't have a pet, but we have a letter from the agent to confirm we can have a cat. See if they'll just do a letter to you as proof.
Needing permission to have a pet is one of the worst things about renting. It's like being a child again.0 -
like being a child again... maybe - but
sadly dogs can do a lot of damage (less so cats - but they can scratch things to destruction) - i have had to replace doors, skirtings, furniture, carpets, a table - all due to a bored dog eating its way through my property grrrr0 -
Only £100 extra on the deposit for a dog??? Makes the admin fee seem tiny, given how much damage dogs can do. I can guarantee everything will need re-painting when you move out!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
