Problem with Avon

My fiancee used to be an Avon lady but stopped as they constantly failed to complete orders. At this time she had about £35 worth of returns, which she asked them to collect, as is the normal procedure.
They failed to do so and instead sent a letter asking for payent of the items. She called them a couple of times and each time they promised to collect the items. This then progressed to letters demanding payment, with late payment charges added. She has responded in writing and once again they responded promising to collect the items but again failed to do so.
This morning she has received a final demand for payent within 7 days, threatening to pass the debt on to a collection agency, impacting her credit file.
We're concerned about her credit file being affected are are considering paying the money and trying to claim it back after. We are furious at their incompetence and the fact they have all the power despite not having the intelligence to go with it!
Is there an ombudsman we can go to or is it Tading Standards?
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

When I was an Avon rep any items I needed to return I packed in a box and gave to the delivery driver when he delivered my next order. Items do need to be paid for though as they then give you credit on your account.
Not sure what you can do really, maybe try giving them a call and find out exactly what is happening0 -
Is this technically a Business Transaction?0

How long has it been since they failed to collect the items?
She should send them another recorded delivery letter stating that they have promised to collect the items X times since <date>, and have failed to do so. She should give them 21 days to collect the items, otherwise she will consider the contract terminated, and no money owed.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
