He's not likely to get many fans if he says "I'll force house prices down" now is he.

They will say anything to get the most votes.

I think it could be surprising how many would vote for such a policy.

The Tory toffs will not care about the riff-raff losing their homes and jobs. They have a history of allowing thousands of homes to be repossessed.

So long as the rich get richer and their liberal partners stay onboard.

    GG

Well if they can't keep up with mortgage payments, why should anyone else subsidise them? People really need to build a safety buffer into their lifestyle.

At the end of 2010 into 2011 there will be a massive shortage of money to lend for businesses and mortgages. End result lending rates shoot up despite BOE base rates. They have already started going up with LLOYDS this week and Nationwide earlier.

The major banks are already contracting lending. As the announcement was no extension of the schemes. So until news is released to the contary the banks will continue to contract. Mortgage lending so far is still showing net growth but is slowing. Be interesting to see at what point the balance tips to net repayment as it has to happen at some juncture. As you say Lloyds & Nationwide could be the catalyst that the rest of the market now follows.

I think you'll find Mr Cameron plays no part in deciding interest rates.

True, however he may wish to change the current legislation, and restore the decision making power of the government with regard to interest rates.

Therefore you believe more of the electorate want house prices to rise.
Why would a politician therefore want them to lower if it benefits a minority to the detriment of the majority?

    Bit of a contradiction there.

How did the people struggling now, manage 2 years ago when rates were higher?

We had jobs two years ago ;)

Daft comment. Most of the polish immigrants have gone back & according to the daily mail nearly all asylum seekers are on benefits.

So taking the immigrants out of the equation and noting that the asylum seekers are on benefits living in their 5 bedroom mansions at the expense of the taxpayer...then were are the jobs now?

The tories will rape the poor. They have done it every time they have been in power. They always initiate some sort of poverty trap. Towns become ghost towns.

    People are fickle.

I have no problem with savers wishing for a better deal and you are correct, historically the Tories have always pillaged the 'poor'. Personally I feel anyone who foolishly thought a vote for Tories/Lib Dem would bring about stability for all were frankly deluded.

Mortgages and lending are set to increase and yes people should have a 'buffer' in place for such eventualities however the negative side of this is that there will be less disposable cash for 'luxuries' hence smaller businesses will be hit hard and will no doubt suffer the wrath and be forced to downscale and in some cases shut up shop!

There are hard times ahead for most
