Recovery of Factory Default

Hi

Really hope someone can help - you are my last hope before I have to call Toshiba support.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A10-11P laptop and I need to restore it back to box settings before selling it. The laptop most definitely did not come with a recovery disc and everything I have read on the Internet doesn't work.

I have tried pressing F8 on start up - this takes me to a screen offering a multitude of options, such as system restore etc, but not one for restoring. I have also tried holding the 0 (zero) key down while powering up the laptop - that is supposed to take me to a Toshiba Recovery Wizard Screen but doesn't. I am completely baffled.

Any help gratefully accepted.

Thanks

Assuming your OS is windows, type in the Run command 'diskmgmt.msc' (without the quotation marls). If you have factory restore on the hard drive it will show as a small hidden partition.

The F8 key should give you the option you require
From memory you should get a advanced boot option screen then something like repair my computer
    Have a nice day :)

Yeah, I have done that. Unfortunately, once I have accessed the repair my computer screen it doesn't offer me the option of restoring to factory settings. It offers the following:

Start up Repair (automatically fix problems that are preventing Windows from starting)
System Restore (will restore to a previous point but not back to out of box settings)
Windows complete PC Restore (restore from a back up, which I don't have)
Windows memory diagnostic tool (checks for memory hardware errors)
    Command prompt
Restoring the compete Windows operating system (tells me to use the Product Recovery DVD-ROM that I don't have and wasn't offered).

    I am stumped.

It should work off the D:drive partition ,if you look on D:drive it will have a folder called HDD recovery
Did mine not so long ago and didnt use any discs

So how do I get to the D Drive? Looking at your link, I have done everything exactly as shown (apart from the user name, obviously I have used my name). However, I do not have the option of Toshiba HDD recovery. It tells me to use the discs that I don't have.

Sounds like you dont have the HDD recovery then in which case you will need some discs :(
To see if you have click on my computer ,you should have a C:drive then possibly a D:drive
Click on the D:drive and see if a folder exists called HDD recovery ,suspect its not there though

You can use the Toshiba recovery disc creator programme although that uses the image stored on your pc to create the discs and it sounds like that image isnt there anyway so thats me stumped im afraid
    Have a nice day :)

Selling a laptop with a serious overheating problem?

    Is it A10 or A210?

It is an A210, apologies for getting it wrong earlier. Yes, it is overheating but I know how to fix that...and if the fix fails then I would be completely honest in the listing and would sell it with the lap top cooler I used to use. Keeps the lappy nice and cool.
