Avoiding draining down full CH system?

Hi,

Need to move and re-pipe one radiator on a combi-boiler fed CH system. Whats the best/quickest way of doing it without draining the whole system. Pipe work running upto radiator is tight to wall which makes it slightly trickier cutting wise. Has anyone tried using a freeze kit before to isolate the radiator on the pipes running upto it so that the pipes can then be cut and a smaller section (ie:radiaotr&small leg of pipework) drained down?

Used a domestic one once but it wasnt particularly good.

You can hire more professional units as per the one below but is relatively costly to hire for a short time.

Personally, I would save the hire money and take the opportunity to flush the system through and replace the inhibitor.
  • Used a freeze kit before to reposition a radiator in our hall and sort out both pipe systems. Worked a treat, gave me ample time to do the job with minimum fuss.
  • Mine was a domestic kit. The important part is to position the insulator well nice and tight with cable ties, then squeeze nozzle in small gap and empty the whole can for good effect.
