this sort of gimmick can back fire. its not a bad deal really if you need to use flybe, i have used them myself recently and they were very good, but most people resent there being a "catch"

I got this offer last time they did it - when I tried to claim there were no suitable flights at all. So it's a bit pointless to me.
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.
  • I have ceased being gullible and check everything BEFORE I jump in. I thought it a good idea at first and this site confirms it pays to be a sceptic.

I actually find it quite hypocritical that a Money Saving site is promoting credit cards.

Why so? This is promotion to get 'free' flights off the back of potentially very small spending on a credit card, which of course is recommended to be repaid in full before accruing any interest. When used properly, credit cards are a perfectly valid way of saving money (since they are interest free and have additional promotions like cashback etc).

I'm interested to know what kind of range of flights are actually available, I live very near a Flybe airport with a wide range of destinations. I can see us getting stiffed on taxes/baggage though so still won't be all that cheap.

Just did a comparison with flybe (gatwick to aberdeen return taxes only) and easyjet (Luton to aberdeen return full fare) and they both worked out the same give or take a pound or two depending on dates. So hardly worth the pallaver of getting the credit card in that example :(
  • Before jumping into bed (or the cabin) with Flybe you may like to read my experience.
I have sent an email to Flybe referring to their Rewards for All system as a SCAM. Here's why.

I initially took their offer of a Flybe mastercard whilst at Newquay airport. It sounded really good. One free flight simply by signing up for the card. Several months later I tried to book a flight by phoning them. No chance. All flights fully booked for the free flights. Only seats available for paying passengers. Oh well, I thought, better start saving points then, to get some other flights later.

I have spent at least £20,000 on my Flybe mastercard over the last two years. I accrued over 70 points entitling me to at least two FREE economy plus flights to Europe (30 points each).

Can I redeem them? It would be easier to paddle to France on a surfboard than get a free flight when you want it from Flybe. I could not find a free return flight to Alicante even looking 6 months ahead. It was impossible to coordinate an outgoing with suitable incoming in the same month if at all.

Then to add insult to injury I checked the Ryanair website. It was CHEAPER to book a standard return with luggage to Alicante on Ryanair than it was to just pay the taxes and charges with Flybe.

Not only that but my points are now expiring and I have only 50 now.

So, unless Flybe do something to win back my affections I shall be cutting up my mastercard very soon. There are better offers around.
  • I have tried to apply for the flybe credit card several times online and just as I get to the end, I get a "sorry we're experiencing technical problems" message. "Please try later or phone us...." But then noticed that the calls cost 7p per minute!! so I havent bothered.

I have already done so on the same grounds...Almost impossible to book flights and when i did find one i perhaps could use, the taxes and charges amounted to more than i would have paid in petrol if i were to drive (Southampton to Newcastle)!
