Hi, has anyone done any free work experience after leaving uni, with a view to boosting up a CV & hopefully gaining employment?
Would someone doing this be eligible for any benefits at all? Will it make a person ineligible for job seekers allowance?
TIA

You are allowed to do voluntary work whilst claiming JSA as long as you remain available for work, must still be actively seeking a full-time job, able to attend job interviews at 48 hours notice and available to work at one week’s notice. Direct.gov.uk Note that "If you choose not be paid for any work you do this is not the same as volunteering. The wage you would normally receive could be counted as ‘notional earnings’." if you were considering unpaid intern type work.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
