Just spotted this - thank you Northern Lass and picasso, nice find. I've requested a Rowan - I hope I'm more successful with it than I was with my freebie Maple sapling a couple of years ago.

Thanks, I have ordered a Silver Birch. I already have a Rowan, planted many years ago, and I hope those of you ordering the free Rowan end up with a tree as spectacular as mine! Plus the birds love the berries in autumn!

Thanks, I asked for a silver birch, because they are beautiful and we all used to climb the one in my old street as kids so I have fond feelings for them as a tree.

OH might have to plant it though, our baby is due in September so I may well be busy

These are all native British species, so if you don't have a garden yourself then perhaps you could offer your tree on freecycle for anyone who does have space and would care for it, because it's a lovelly way to do something positive about carbon levels. Ther more are claimed the better.
