Hi all! Need some advice! Tried to pay for goods with my solo card and the first payment was void ok so try again and this time it was not authorised! Couldn't understand why as I have over 3 grand in my account and the payment amount was for £280. So I check at the ATM and 2 payments of £280 have left my account!! Went into Natwest and they say I will have the money credited back but could not say when! Can anybody explain what's happening here please!! I really need the money back ASAP!

The amounts would have been taken to a holding area while payment went through. As the payment didn't go through nothing will be debited but your available balance will be lower until the funds are no longer held. Normally takes 2-7 days. Its quite typical of transactions to do this, which is why I use a credit card

These are called shadow authorisations. Sometimes a card payment duplicates. The retailer will only claim one payment - so the best thing to do is keep an eye on your account over the next few days - I think you'll find that only one payment will go out of your bank, and the other £280 will become available again.Best Regards
