Anyone tried Pet-friendly cabins on ferry

I've just booked a Brittany Ferries Cap Finistere pet-friendly cabin from Cherbourg to Portsmouth as I felt this might be nicer for my dog than staying in the car. Does anyone have any experience of this? I imagine its nicer for the dog than having to stay in the car.

These must be a new thing. Weve only ever had our dog in the car on in the 'kennel' from Portsmouth to St Malo. I've looked on the website and cant see how to book one? Did you have to ring up the bopoking office and how much was it?
I can't remember exactly where I first read about the pet-friendly cabins - it might have been on Brittany Ferries website - but their new Cap Finistere vessel (from April 2010) had 4 dog-friendly cabins from Portsmouth-Cherbourg-Portsmouth. There was no option to book these special cabins on-line, so I phoned them to enquire, and apparently the price is no different booking by phone or on-line, so I booked by phone.
The cabins are the usual outside 4 berth cabins - but apparently have lino rather than carpet, and are on Deck 9 - which is the same deck as the kennels, so good for 'walking' the dogs - and I'm really excited about the fact that I can keep the dogs with me rather than leaving them in the car.
I've booked a single journey, France to UK, in early October, with 2 dogs, in a dog-friendly cabin, and it cost about £220 with our Frequent Traveller Membership (30% reduction).
Makes sense to me - just not quite sure how the dogs will like the new sleeping arrangements!!0 -

We've never tried the 'kennels' - can you tell me what they're like, were you happy with them? We've not tried them as we couldn't find any recommendations.
It would be useful to know of your experiences with them. Are you allowed to visit the dogs as often as you like during the crossing? What is the 'exercise area' like? Is it clean? Are the kennels warm? Do you think your dog was happy in the kennel? I'd be happy to give them a go if I was reassured that they are ok.
I'll post our experiences of the pet-friendly cabins once we've travelled - but that won't be until oct.0 -

They are new, we had to ring up to book one for this October to Spain as the website didn't identify the dog cabins seperately.
I too would be interested to know about them, I may look on the Brittany Ferries forum tomorrow as there is likley to be feedback over on there.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0
