Post Office Card

Options
Hello All,
I'm going to apply for a Post Office Credit card for a balance transfer, but I see they want the Card details that i want to transfer from, and the sort code, which they say i should find on my statement

I have a Lloyds TSB card, but can't find any details of a sort code on the statement?

I just want all the relevant info at hand before i make the application, so it dosen't time out half way through the application

any help much appreciated

Regards Phil

  • I applied for a Post Office card a few months back. There was no mention of balance transfer details on the application form. It wasn't until they sent me the new card and PIN etc that I phoned them to request a bal. transfer. All they needed to know was the number of the card I was transferring the balance from and it all went without a hitch.

I found their customer service very helpful too which makes a nice change these days.

Last month, I applied for the Post Office card. The secure part of the website doesn't work at all with my browser, so I made a telephone application. I would recommend this route. I was told my credit limit over the phone. When the resulting paperwork arrived by post, I completed the optional balance transfer request and sent everything back by return. The whole process, application and balance transfer, was completed in just under 14 days.

I've requested two more balance transfers over the phone since, without a hitch.

Completing the balance transfer request on a credit card agreement can sometimes speed things up by a day or two, but unless you've already been accepted and told your credit limit, it's best to keep your options open, IMO, and leave this section blank or if asked, state you may be interested.

Of course, you might want to commit yourself to a balance transfer if you're short of time, have no other option anyway and/or believe the balance transfer could influence the credit limit eventually offered. (I've no real evidence for the latter, just a suspicion that a BT may sometimes influence the credit limit on a new card.)

I picked up the form at work. I work for Royal Mail and the application forms are dotted around the sorting office.
Best thing would be to phone them I reckon.

    Hi
Well i applied online, decided against applying for the balance transfer at that stage. Got an instant decision on the last screen, and credit of 5,700.
Paperwork to follow in the post within 5 days.
So far so good, will apply for the balance transfer when i get the paperwork back.

    Regards Phil
  • I found the PO card very good with good limits and a UK call centre. Whole thing took less than 10 days over phone. I called to do BT at full limit. Hope this helps
